Born on June 16, 1968 in Hisar, Bihar, Arvind Kejrival is an Indian Socialist, who is now turning out to be a politician to emerge as a hope for Modern India for changing the political system and making it corruption free. He is a man, who decided to devote his time and efforts for the country when he founded Parivartan (परिवर्तन),an NGO Public cause Research Foundation and made his first step in this direction after resigning from IRS (Indian revenue services) in 2006.
In 2006 only, he got the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Emergent Leadership. He is a Mechanical engineering graduate from IIT Kharagpur and has also cracked Civil Services examination in 1992, to join IRS (Indian revenue services).
After laying the foundation of his NGO Parivartan in 2006, he started working with his fellows to make people aware of the Right to Information Act (RTI) so that maximum benefits can be extracted from it in terms of corruption and making the government answerable to the poor citizens of the country. Arvind Kejriwal used this act as a powerful weapon in corruption cases of many departments hold by govt. like Delhi Electricity Board, Municipal Corporation, Income Tax Department, Public Distribution System etc.
Arvind kejriwal’s major role came as an architect for Jan Lokpal Bill movement along with Anna Hazare and others including personalities like Kiran Bedi, Prashant Bhushan, Santosh Hegde, Shanti Bhushan and others.
During that movement, Arvind Kejriwal emerged as a youth icon of the country and has effectively become a living example for many since then.
Soon after that Movement, differences between him and Anna over the issue of creating a political party to help the country become free from a corrupt political system started, inspite of not getting support from Anna and many others, he entered politics.
He is still actively working to make the people of India aware how political parties have exploited the wealth of the country and has recently accused Robert Wadra, son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi and husband of Priyanka Gandhi over corruption matters with DLF.
It will be interesting to see How far Arvind Kejrival goes with his goals as millions of people are looking forward to him as a hope for Modern India.
